(Adnkronos) – In the second round of voting, the members of the Bundestag elected Friedrich Merz (CDU) as the new German Federal Chancellor. 325 parliamentarians voted in favor of Merz, against only 310 in the first round. A total of 618 votes were cast. The no votes were 289, there was one abstention and three invalid votes.
