(Adnkronos) – Social Democrat Boris Pistorius will remain at the head of the Ministry of Defense in the new German government that will take office tomorrow. Known for his firm support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, the 65-year-old Pistorius is considered a key figure in German security policy.
In his new term, he will be tasked with overseeing an ambitious rearmament plan worth hundreds of billions of euros, aimed at strengthening Germany’s military capabilities and reducing strategic dependence on the United States. The choice reflects Berlin’s concerns about the Trump administration’s progressive disengagement from European affairs.
