(Adnkronos) – A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by Swedish police in connection with yesterday’s shooting in Uppsala which claimed the lives of three young people aged between 15 and 20. This was announced by the Swedish prosecutor’s office in a statement, stating that “a 16-year-old boy was arrested on charges of shooting three people in central Uppsala on Tuesday”, yesterday. The attacker fled on an electric scooter after the shooting inside a hair salon and was later arrested at his home.
During a press conference, Swedish police chief Erik Akerlund confirmed that the victims were between the ages of 15 and 20, but added that their identities had not been confirmed “one hundred percent.” Swedish media write that police are investigating the possibility that the victims belonged to criminal gangs. One of them was known to law enforcement and police were investigating him in connection with an attack on the leader of a rival gang, Ismail Abdo, local media reported.
