(Adnkronos) – The Indian authorities of Jammu and Kashmir have ordered the closure of 48 resorts and over fifty tourist sites for security reasons, following the attack that last week caused the death of 26 people in the Indian part of the region disputed with Pakistan.
The attack was claimed by the Resistance Front, a group linked to the Islamist militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and has aggravated diplomatic tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad, which accuse each other of supporting armed groups in the region. Kashmir remains one of the main hotbeds of tension between the two nuclear powers, protagonists of three wars since 1947 and a fragile ceasefire in force since 2003.
