Nyt, ‘Trump blocked Israel’s plans to attack Iranian nuclear sites’

17 Aprile 2025

(Adnkronos) – Israel had planned to hit Iranian nuclear sites next month, but in recent weeks the project has been rejected by US President Donald Trump, who would prefer to negotiate an agreement with Tehran to limit its nuclear program. The New York Times writes, citing administration officials and other sources familiar with the matter.

According to the newspaper, Israel had drawn up a plan to attack the sites as early as May, adding that the goal was to delay Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon by a year or more. According to the New York Times, US assistance would have been needed not only to defend Israel from Iranian retaliation, but also to ensure the success of the attack.
