(Adnkronos) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sued the leader of the opposition Chp party, Ozgur Ozel, asking him for compensation of 500,000 Turkish lira, about 12,000 euros, for insulting him. In particular, Erdogan complained of ”moral damages” for the fact that Ozel called him ”president of the junta” and ”coup plotter” during the Chp’s Extraordinary Congress. This was announced by Erdogan’s lawyer, Huseyin Aydin, explaining that he had ”filed a lawsuit with the Ankara civil court” for the ”unfounded accusations and offensive expressions addressed to our president by the leader of the Chp”.
Furthermore, the lawyer continues on ‘X’, ”a criminal complaint was filed with the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of insulting the president”.
