(Adnkronos) – Tragedy last night in southeastern Brazil: at least eleven people died and another 36 were injured after a bus carrying 53 passengers overturned in the state of Minas Gerais. This was reported by the local Fire Department.
The accident occurred around 3:40 am (local time), near the city of Araguari, in the Triângulo Mineiro region. Among the victims, there are also two minors. According to local authorities, 18 of the injured were taken to hospital in serious condition, while the other 18 sustained minor injuries. Five passengers are in critical condition, according to the G1 portal, citing medical sources. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.
Police explained that the bus had left Anápolis and was headed for Sao Paulo. The vehicle allegedly overturned while turning at an intersection, after the driver lost control of it. Firefighters and mobile emergency units from Araguari, Tupaciguara and Uberlândia intervened on the spot.
