Democrat Cory Booker breaks the record for the longest speech in the history of the Senate, over 24 hours

(Adnkronos) – Democrat Cory Booker set the record for the longest speech in the history of the Washington Senate after speaking for more than 24 hours against the policies implemented by Donald Trump. Booker was still speaking after 24 hours and 20 minutes, a record that broke the previous record, set in 1957 by Republican Strom Thurmond, a pro-segregation South Carolina senator, in a speech against the Civil Rights Act.
