(Adnkronos) – The Sudanese army has recaptured Khartoum airport from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). A military source told AFP, as troops surrounded the last major stronghold of paramilitary resistance south of the city. The army, engaged in fighting the RSF since April 2023, has “completely secured” the airport in central Khartoum from the paramilitaries stationed inside, the source said.
After retaking the presidential palace on Friday, army troops invaded central Khartoum, seizing state institutions captured early in the war by the RSF, before heading south. “South of the capital, our forces have surrounded the strategic area of Jebel Awliya from three directions: north, south and east,” the source said, adding that “all axes are advancing steadily.”
