(Adnkronos) – The ban that banned all forms of protest in the Turkish capital Ankara has been extended until April 1st. The announcement came from the Ankara governorship, which – local media report – prohibits marches, sit-ins and other mobilization initiatives “until 11.59 pm on Tuesday 1 April”.
Similar measures were also announced in recent days in Istanbul and Izmir (Smyrna), but the square continues to challenge them in protest at the arrest of Ekrem Imamoglu, mayor of the city on the Bosphorus “temporarily suspended” from office and political rival number one of the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
