(Adnkronos) – More than 1,100 people have been arrested in Turkey in connection with protests that began on March 19 against the arrest of Ekrem Imamoglu, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s number one political rival. On X, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya writes of “1,133 suspects arrested for illegal activities between March 19 and 23.” Among them, he says, are people “affiliated with 12 different terrorist organizations.”
