(Adnkronos) – The Pentagon aims to reduce its civilian workforce by about 50,000-60,000 units, preferably through voluntary measures. Sources close to the dossier told Abc News, including a senior Defense official, who explained: “The number may seem high, but it’s important to focus on the percentage: a reduction of 5-8% is not drastic. It can be achieved without compromising operational readiness, while ensuring optimal resource allocation.”
The cuts could come through a hiring freeze, the dismissal of employees on probation with less than one or two years of service and an offer of voluntary departures with full pay until the end of September.
