(Adnkronos) – Canada intends to ease the sanctions it had introduced against Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian regime, deposed on 8 December last, and to appoint its own ambassador to Damascus. This was announced by Canada’s special envoy for Syria, Omar Alghabra. “Canada can play a significant role in enabling Syrians to build an inclusive country that respects all its citizens. We can also help prevent Syria from sinking into chaos and instability,” he said.
