11 Marzo 2025

(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani is attending on Tuesday in Verona the opening of Let EXPO – Italy’ main transport, logistics and business services trade fair – at which 400 exhibitors and some 100,000 visitors ar expected this year, said a foreign ministry statement.

“As part of its growth diplomacy strategy, the foreign ministry supports and promotes the consolidation of Italy’s logistics connections with the rest of the world, with a particular focus on the Alpine passes, the Balkans and the wider Mediterranean,” said the statement.

“The logistics sector plays a key role for the Italian economy and the growth of its exports,” the statement underlined.

The contract logistics sector’s turnover was worth 117.8 billion euros in 2024, a 1.7% increase from 2023, according to estimates by Milan Polytechnic’s Contract Logistics Observatory, the statement noted.

With 62 ports, 24 interports and 39 airports, Italy possesses major logistics infrastructure and occupies a strategic position in European trade, the statement underlined.

Four out of nine trans-European network corridors (Baltic-Adriatic, Scandinavian-Mediterranean, Rhine-Alpine, Mediterranean) cross Italy, which is also part of the ‘Cotton Road’ or IMEC corridor: economic and logistic infrastructure linking Europe, the Arabian Peninsula and South Asia, according to the statement.

Let EXPO is being organised by ALIS (The Sustainable Intermodal Logistics Association for Italy and Europe) with Veronafiere and is taking place through Friday.
