10 Marzo 2025

(Adnkronos) – Collision in the North Sea between an oil tanker and a cargo ship. Lifeboats and a Coast Guard helicopter were called to intervene for the collision that occurred this morning, which would involve a US-flagged oil tanker, the Mv Stena Immaculate, which was at anchor according to Vesselfinder. The alarm was raised shortly before 10 am local time, 11 am in Italy.

According to the BBC, the collision occurred off the coast of East Yorkshire, near Hull. According to two sources who spoke to the British network, there is a fire on board the oil tanker, while other reports speak of flames also affecting the other vessel.

The BBC points out that MarineTraffic data shows that the oil tanker involved is the Stena Immaculate, anchored off Hull after a voyage that began in the Greek port of Agioi Theodoroi, and that at 9.48 a.m. the presence of the Portuguese-flagged merchant ship Solong is detected, which appears to collide with the tanker after leaving Grangemouth, Scotland, bound for Rotterdam.
