(Adnkronos) – More than 970 civilians have been killed in 72 hours in Syria, victims of executions in the west of the Arab country, as part of the offensive by forces under the command of Ahmad al-Sharaa against groups linked to the deposed regime of Bashar al-Assad. On its website, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the United Kingdom and with sources in Syria, speaks of at least 973 deaths, including women and children, since the start of the operation last Friday, and of almost 40 massacres.
The most affected area is that of Latakia, where there are at least 545 deaths among civilians, followed by those of Tartus, with 262 victims, and Hama, with 156. At least ten victims in Homs. Al-Sharaa announced yesterday the creation of a commission to “preserve civil peace”. It will be composed of three components, including the governors of Latakia and Tartus.
