Germany, the new Bundestag will meet on March 25

6 Marzo 2025

(Adnkronos) – The new Bundestag, the German parliament, will meet for the first time on March 25, one month after the federal elections of February 23. This was reported by Dpa. The date of the first session was agreed by the Vorältestenrat, a transition committee composed of the current president of the lower house and representatives of the new parliamentary groups. The committee is responsible for setting the date for the inaugural session, the arrangement of the deputies and the agenda. The German Constitution requires that the first session of the new parliament be held within one month of the elections. The 25th was therefore the last available date. The new Chamber will have 630 members, 103 fewer than the outgoing Bundestag. The parties represented will be fewer: the Liberals of the Fdp and the Bsw, Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, have in fact not exceeded the minimum threshold of 5% of the votes.
