(Adnkronos) – US President Donald Trump delivered his first speech since returning to the White House to a joint session of Congress, addressing topics ranging from domestic policy to foreign affairs. In the longest annual address in modern history, Trump focused on the economy, intervening on trade and tariffs and promising to provide “relief to working families” in a context of high inflation.
Immigration was also a focal point, with Trump highlighting crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants and calling for greater border security. He also touted his victory in the 2024 election and criticized the Biden administration in a divisive speech that drew protests from Democratic lawmakers.
In a graph, CNN broke down the time the US president spent on each topic he spoke about in minutes. The lion’s share was made by domestic politics, to which Trump dedicated over 32 minutes, ranging from the policies of his administration, to defense, security, healthcare, social security, crime and energy. Immigration was a topic that the tycoon addressed for almost 15 minutes, focusing in particular on that related to crime and talking about border control.
Of course, there was no lack of economics (about 14 minutes of speech), focused on duties and trade, and on inflation. Trump also talked about the elections that decreed his return to the White House (over 10 minutes) and dedicated fewer minutes to culture and foreign policy, as well as to the Doge and Elon Musk.
