(Adnkronos) – The speech by US President Donald Trump to Congress did not significantly change opinions about his administration among those who tuned in: this is revealed by a CNN poll conducted by SSRS. This shows that before the speech, 61% of the sample examined said they believed his policies would lead the country in the right direction, while 38% said they would lead the country in the wrong direction. Afterwards, the results went to 66% and 34% respectively.
The audience for Trump’s speech – mostly Republican, according to the poll – was further convinced of their political choices. About 60% of viewers said they approved of Trump’s handling of the presidency overall, even as his broader approval rating among the American public has plummeted, according to a CNN poll released Sunday. Eight out of ten viewers finally criticized Democratic Rep. Al Green’s interruption of Trump’s speech as inappropriate, while 20% called it an appropriate reaction.
