(Adnkronos) – Mexico will announce the measures with which it intends to respond to the 25% tariffs imposed by Donald Trump next Sunday. This was stated by President Claudia Sheinbaum, specifying that these will be tariffs and other measures that will be illustrated in a public meeting.
“I want to make it clear today that we will always seek a negotiated solution, as we have proposed in the context of respecting our sovereignty – said the Mexican president – but the unilateral decision taken by the United States will have effects for national and foreign companies operating in our country and for our people. So we have decided to respond with tariffs and other measures”.
Promising to remain calm and collected, Sheibaum has claimed all actions taken to meet Trump’s requests, moving troops to the border and allowing the extradition of dozens of drug cartel leaders, challenging as “offensive and defamatory” the White House statement stating that Mexico has “given refuge to drug cartels”.
