UK, Foreign aid cut, International Development minister resigns

28 Febbraio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Britain’s International Development Secretary Anneliese Dodds has announced her resignation following Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s decision to halve the foreign aid budget. With a reduction of around £6 billion by 2027, Dodds said, it will be ”impossible” to maintain aid to Ukraine, the Gaza Strip and Sudan.

Dodds explained that the British Prime Minister was right to increase defence spending, but called on the government to look at other ways to raise money rather than cutting departmental budgets. Among these, she suggested reviewing the rules on loans and taxation.
