(Adnkronos) – Exploratory talks are underway in Germany between the Social Democrats of the Spd and the Union (Cdu and Csu) with a view to forming a coalition government after last Sunday’s vote. Representatives of the two sides met in an office in the Jakob-Kaiser Haus in Berlin to outline the framework for future coalition talks and to establish their start and stages.
A total of 18 senior representatives of the two parties and the finance minister, the Social Democrat Joerg Kukies, are sitting in the consultation room, according to Bild. The conservative delegation, writes the Dpa, includes among others the Christian Democrat leader, Friedrich Merz, that of the Christian Social Union, Markus Soeder, that of the Social Democrats the co-leaders Lars Klingbeil and Saskia Esken, as well as the Ministers of Defense Boris Pistorius and of Labor Hubertus Heil.
