(Adnkronos) – The United States and Russia have agreed on four principles at the end of talks lasting more than four hours in Saudi Arabia. This was stated by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, specifying that the first principle serves to “restore the functionality of our respective missions in Washington and Moscow. In order to continue to proceed on this path, we need diplomatic structures that are operational and functioning normally”.
Secondly, Rubio continues, “we will appoint a high-level team to help us negotiate and reach an end to the conflict in Ukraine in a way that is lasting and acceptable to all parties involved.” The third point involves laying the groundwork “to begin to discuss, reflect and examine both the geopolitical and economic cooperation that could derive from the end of the conflict in Ukraine”.
Finally, the Secretary of State affirms, “the five of us who were here today (in addition to Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential collaborator Yuri Ushakov) will continue to engage in this process to ensure that it proceeds productively”.
