(Adnkronos) – Great Britain intends to lift some of the sanctions against Syria, the government has announced. The plan includes “the easing of restrictions on energy, transport and finance”, said Undersecretary Stephen Doughty, specifying that the proposal will be submitted to the House of Commons for approval. In a written statement to Parliament, Doughty specified that the measure will be presented “in the coming months”.
“These are changes made to support the Syrians in their effort to rebuild their country and promote security and stability”, “The Government remains determined to demand that Bashar Assad and his allies answer for their actions against the Syrians. The freezing of assets and the travel ban imposed against exponents of the deposed regime remain in force”.
