(Adnkronos) – Rescue workers continue to operate in southwest China after a landslide buried several homes on Saturday. At least 28 people are still missing, according to media reports in the Asian giant. The official death toll is at least one dead and two injured in the landslide in Jinping, Sichuan.

Official media reported complicated rescue operations due to freezing temperatures and the aftermath of bad weather. The risk of further landslides is not excluded due to heavy rains, after Saturday’s landslide swept away land and at least ten buildings.

At least 360 people have been relocated for safety reasons. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the highest level of alert to be declared to speed up search and rescue operations for the missing.
