(Adnkronos) – Salwan Momika, who publicly burned the Koran in 2023, sparking a wave of protests in many Islamic countries, was shot dead in a suburb of Stockholm. Swedish police confirmed this, specifying that the murder took place last night. The Stockholm court was due to rule today on the incitement of ethnic hatred that had been brought against the Iraqi refugee of Christian faith.
In a statement, police said they were called to a building in Sodertalije where Momika lived and found the man shot. After his death was confirmed in hospital, a murder investigation was opened. According to several Swedish media outlets, Momika was live on social media and his murder may have been filmed.
