(Adnkronos) – Forward on nuclear. The North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is determined, convinced that the security framework makes it “indispensable” to work constantly on North Korea’s nuclear capabilities, “to strengthen the nuclear shield”. The Kcna agency reports on a visit by Kim to a “site for the production of nuclear materials and to the Nuclear Weapons Institute”. It is not clear when the visits took place or where the facilities are located. But the Kcna underlines Kim’s appreciation for the “successes” and how the North Korean leader spoke of 2025 as “a crucial year” to “strengthen nuclear forces”. For Kim, “a long-term confrontation with the most brutal hostile countries is inevitable”.
“It is our firm position, on a political and military level, as well as a noble and constant task and duty, to develop the State’s nuclear reaction position to the utmost”, said the North Korean leader, according to Kcna.
The news comes after Pyongyang announced late last week its first missile test since Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Last week in an interview with Fox News, the US president returned to talk about North Korea, defining Kim – whom he met several times during his first term – an “intelligent person” and hinting at the possibility of new talks.
