(Adnkronos) – M23 fighters, which Rwanda is accused of supporting, have consolidated control over several districts of Goma, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The Dpa agency reports, with testimonies confirming that the fighters have extended control up to Goma airport.

A Dpa reporter in Goma saw M23 fighters rounding up Congolese troops and Wazalendo militia allies at a stadium in the city. Corneille Nangaa, leader of a coalition of politicians and armed groups, including the M23, which aims to overthrow President Félix Tshisekedi, is expected in Goma. Yesterday a speech by the latter was expected, which would have been the first, but which never took place.
