(Adnkronos) – Should US president Donald Trump implement his campaign threats to slap universal tariffs of 10-20% on the rest of the world, an ensuing US-EU trade war would especially harm Italy, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday.
“A trade war is not good for anyone, especially for a country like ours,” Tajani said on the sidelines of an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
“Our exports are worth 40%” of our gross domestic product GDP,” said Tajani.
Italy wants to see “positive solutions, not actions and reactions” on trade, he said.
“We will work to achieve this goal”, Tajani said.
