Ukraine-Russia, it’s still a drone war. And Kim accelerates on new troops

(Adnkronos) – Three people dead and one injured. This would be the partial toll of the Russian raids that hit several cities in the Kiev region during the night. This was reported by the regional police, accusing Moscow of a “drone attack” which caused material damage to 11 buildings, eight private houses and a shop.

The mayor of Brovary, Igor Sapozhko, reported on Telegram that rescuers found the bodies of two victims, a married couple, in the rubble of one of the buildings hit. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported that another person was killed in a drone attack on a ten-story building in the city of Fastiv, from which about 150 people had to be evacuated.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian Air Force informed on Telegram that Russia has launched 58 “Shahed” kamikaze drones in the last few hours, 25 of which have been intercepted. “The other 27 did not reach their targets,” it reads.

The Russian authorities have also announced the downing of about 125 drones launched by the Ukrainian armed forces against their territory, including six over the capital Moscow, without specifying whether there were any casualties or damage.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on its Telegram account that air defense systems destroyed 123 drones launched against various regions of the country, as well as one over the Crimean peninsula. In detail, 37 drones were intercepted over the Bryansk region, 20 in Ryazan, 17 respectively in Kursk and Saratov, seven in Rostov, six in Moscow and Belgorod, three in Leningrad and Voronezh and two in Tula, Oryol and Lipetsk.

Meanwhile, North Korea is reportedly accelerating preparations for a new deployment of troops in Russia. This is stated in a report drawn up by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, cited by the Yonhap news agency. According to the same source, Pyongyang would be continuing its race towards the potential launch of a spy satellite or an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Seoul and Washington have accused Pyongyang of sending some 11,000 soldiers to fight alongside the Russian military in the war against Ukraine. South Korean intelligence also speaks of 300 deaths among North Korean soldiers and 2,700 wounded. “About four months after the deployment of troops, North Korea is presumed to be accelerating preparations for further measures and for deployment following the multiple casualties and prisoners,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in the report.

“Although no imminent signs of a missile launch have been detected from the Trump settlement,” it continues, “preparations for a spy satellite or an intercontinental ballistic missile appear to be continuing.” The report also recalls that North Korea appears ready to provocations with short-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles or balloons for transporting waste at any time. “Since they have carried out surprise provocations according to their needs, the army will not rule out the possibility of such provocations and will strengthen surveillance.”
