(Adnkronos) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz regrets the announced US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and the World Health Organization, decided by President Donald Trump after his reinstatement.
“We have confidence in international organizations and a rules-based international order,” a government spokeswoman explained today, outlining the chancellor’s reaction. “In our view, the Paris climate agreement is indispensable, and we will continue to focus on it,” she continued. For the government, she added, climate change is a huge global problem to which the world community as a whole must find an answer.
“We remain committed to these agreements,” she continued. “This also applies to WHO membership,” she added, describing it as an important umbrella organization against threats to global health. German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach yesterday also deplored the US withdrawal from the WHO, calling the move a blow to the international fight against global health crises.
