Mideast: Iran ‘must not threaten Israel’ says Italy

21 Gennaio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Iran, which opposes the US-brokered 2020 normalisation process between Israel and Arab states “must not threaten Israel” and use its regional proxies to unravel the Jewish state’s current truce with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Gaza, Italy has stated.

The Abraham accords (inaugurated during the first US presidency of Donald Trump) is a harbinger of a new season of peace,” Tajani said at and event in Rome late on Monday.

“Iran – a country that opposes this process – must not threaten Israel and use its allies in the region, such as the Houthis in Yemen, to break the Israel- Hamas truce,” Tajani said.

“God must unite and not divide: those who open fire in the name of God shoot against God,” Tajani went on, urging peaceful coexistence in the Middle East.

Italy is committed to peace – “the most precious thing” – and to inter-faith dialogue, Tajani underlined.
