(Adnkronos) – Dozens of US State Department diplomats will resign before the inauguration of new President Donald Trump. The Washington Post writes, citing three well-informed US officials on condition of anonymity. The resignations, they add, follow instructions in this sense provided by President-elect Trump’s aides. His goal, the newspaper reads, is to implement a clean break with the Joe Biden administration.
As the sources reported, those leaving their posts will be, for example, John Bass, Undersecretary for Management and Acting Undersecretary for Political Affairs. And Geoff Pyatt, Deputy Secretary for Energy Resources.
“It is entirely appropriate to look for officials who share President Trump’s vision of putting our nation and American workers first. We have many failures to fix and this requires a team committed and focused on the same goals,” a spokesperson for the transition team said.
