(Adnkronos) – The French government is “determined” to achieve the goal of bringing the deficit below the 3% threshold by 2029. This was stated by French Economy Minister Éric Lombard as he entered the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels. 2025 will be the first year to implement the adjustment plan, he adds, indicating that the government will pass the 5.4% target to Parliament.
“This is a very important time for Europe and for the world. The first priority is to protect our industry through the Clean Industrial Act and the instruments at our disposal”, adds Lombard, outlining the elements he will bring to the meeting with his European counterparts. Other priorities include trade developments, capital market union and adaptation to new technologies such as artificial intelligence, a topic that will be explored at the summit organised by French President Emmanuel Macron in February.
