(Adnkronos) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Kiev for a surprise visit, his first to Ukraine since becoming Prime Minister. The aim of the mission is to sign a ‘100 years of partnership’ agreement between the UK and Ukraine, thus reaffirming London’s ‘firm support’ for Kiev.
“Putin’s ambition to wrest Ukraine from its closest partners has been a monumental strategic failure. We are closer than ever and this partnership will take that friendship to the next level,” the British Prime Minister said.
“The power of our long-standing friendships cannot be underestimated. Supporting Ukraine in defending itself from Russia’s barbaric invasion and rebuilding a prosperous and sovereign future is crucial to the government’s security and to the Plan for Change,” he added, quoted by Sky News.
