(Adnkronos) – The United States has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia for the war underway since February 2022 against Ukraine. This was announced by the US Treasury Department, explaining that the target includes several individuals, an entity based in China and a bank in Kyrgyzstan. Last week, in what are Joe Biden’s last days in the presidency, new US sanctions were imposed on oil tankers and producers.
“The new team is preparing for a negotiation and in a negotiation you have to have leverage. Part of that leverage has to come from some kind of economic pressure that makes it clear to Putin that he will continue to pay a significant economic price” if he goes ahead with the war, White House security adviser Jake Sullivan said Monday.
