(Adnkronos) – The first hearing of the impeachment trial of Yoon Suk Yeol, the South Korean president “suspended” from his duties after the impeachment vote of Parliament which the Constitutional Court must decide whether to endorse, ended after just four minutes. This was reported by the South Korean agency Yonhap, specifying that Yoon was not present. The next hearing of the five total scheduled is set for Thursday and, the agency points out, will go ahead regardless of Yoon’s presence.
Meanwhile, a month has passed since the Seoul Parliament voted to impeach Yoon, who on December 3 attempted to impose martial law on the country, which was soon revoked. Yoon has been suspended from office. The Constitutional Court has 180 days, starting December 14, to decide whether or not to uphold Parliament’s decision.
