(Adnkronos) – A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Japan, triggering a tsunami warning for Miyazaki and Kochi prefectures. Kyodo agency reports it. The earthquake was recorded at 21.19 local time.
The Japan Meteorological Agency initially reported a magnitude of 6.4, then revised to 6.9, as specified by Kyodo. According to the Agency, in areas of Miyazaki Prefecture the intensity of the earthquake is below 5 on a scale that goes up to 7. According to other local media, the earthquake particularly affected the Kyushu region.
