(Adnkronos) – Italy is the number-one G7 country for sustainable steel production, the first in the world for pharmaceutical sector export growth, and Europe’s leader for special and urban waste recycling rate, a report said Monday.
Italy can also boast outstanding results in terms of culture and creativity, sectors that together generate a value-added of almost 300 billion euros a year, with a 5.5% annual increase, according to the Symbola Foundation’s annual ‘Italy in 10 Selfies’ report which highlights strengths of the country’s economy.
The Symbola report also underlined “significant results” achieved by Italian exports in 2024 “despite a complex international situation”, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Through “a coordinated growth diplomacy strategy implemented by over 300 offices abroad in synergy with various economic entities, “the foreign ministry is committed to enhancing Italian excellence and supporting exports,” said the statement.
Foreign minister Antonio Tajani opened a conference at the foreign ministry on Monday to present the report. The event is being streamed live on the foreign ministry’s website.
The report focuses on the circular economy, renewables, green steel, sustainable agriculture, rides and amusement parks, furniture, conference tourism, pasta production, pharmaceuticals, UNESCO heritage and design, according to the foreign ministry.
The report was prepared by Symbola in collaboration with the Unioncamere and Assocamerestero associations of chambers of commerce.
The foreign, environment and industry ministries sponsored the report, the statement said.
