(Adnkronos) – Italy and Greece have “excellent” relations and a shared approach on a raft of issues like defence, migration and climate hazards, which they will commit to paper at an inter-governmental summit next month, premier Giorgia Meloni said on Thursday.
“Relations between Italy and Greece are excellent,” Meloni stated noting that she and her Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mītsotakis are colleagues at the European Council – the European Union’s decision-making body made up of heads of state and government.
“We talk about many subjects on which we have a common approach: defence, security, immigration, securing our territory in the face of continuous extreme weather events.” Giorgia Meloni said.
At their upcoming inter-government summit in Rome on 9 February, Italy and Greece want to formalise their cooperation with a joint declaration and bilateral memorandums of understanding in key areas, notably security and civil protection, according to Meloni.
