(Adnkronos) – Nicolás Maduro has announced the activation of the so-called “comprehensive management organizations” (Odis), a structure that centralizes political power, the Armed Forces, the Bolivarian National Militia, police forces and community groups, with the motivation of “defending peace” in the days leading up to January 10, the date on which he intends to be sworn in and take office for his third term as president of Venezuela.
In an event held at the Miraflores Palace, Maduro, wearing a military uniform, announced the creation of these structures by decree. He also proclaimed himself supreme commander of this political-military merger. Calling it a comprehensive defense initiative, Maduro described the Odis as a “higher body” that will operate at all levels of public and community administration. “The activation of Odis will guarantee the exemplary victory of peace”, Maduro assured.
