(Adnkronos) – Premier Giorgia Meloni and foreign minister Antonio Tajani will meet freed Italian journalist Cecilia Sala when she arrives at Ciampino airport near Rome on Wednesday aboard a flight from Iran’s capital Tehran.
Tajani told public broadcaster Rai’s Tg2 news bulletin that he and Meloni would be among those welcoming 29-year-old Sala at Ciampino.
Italy’s government, diplomats and intelligence services worked to secure the release of Sala, who was arrested in Iran on 19 December and held in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison for three weeks.
