(Adnkronos) – MPS are grilling Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani Wednesday on international and European Union initiatives to stabilise Syria and relaunch its economy in the wake of the 13-year civil war that toppled long-time dictator Bashad al-Assad last month.
Wednesday’s parliamentary question-time comes on the eve of a ‘Quint’ foreign ministers’ meeting in Rome that is being organised by Tajani.
Syria’s path to inclusive democracy and its economic recovery will be the chief focus of Thursday’s meeting of ‘Quint’ foreign ministers from Italy, the US, the UK, Germany and France, according to the foreign ministry.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas is also set to attend Thursday’s meeting at Rome’s Villa Madama.
