Italy: Copasir chief thanks govt, intelligence services for Sala’s release

(Adnkronos) – The head of the parliamentary panel which oversees Italy’s intelligence agencies on Wednesday praised the secret services and the government for the release of Italian reporter Cecilia Sala, who spent three weeks in jail in Tehran after her arrest in Iran last month. 

“I express great satisfaction for the release and return to Italy of Cecilia Sala,” Lorenzo Guerini wrote in a statement. 

“On behalf of the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (Copasir), I would like to thank the government and our intelligence apparatus for the effective work carried out for the liberation of our compatriot”. 

Italy’s foreign minister Antoni Tajani also thanked the secret services a in interview on public broadcaster Rai’s Tg1 news bulletin.  

“A thank you to our diplomats and also to our intelligence services whose work truly was superb,” Tajani stated.
