(Adnkronos) – The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed the first death from avian influenza in the United States. The deceased patient, exposed to contact with wild and non-commercial backyard birds, was over the age of 65 and suffered from previous pathologies, it was announced. Last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that the patient had the first severe case of bird flu in the United States.
