(Adnkronos) – While the rest of the world is still waiting for 2025, the inhabitants of Christmas Island or Kiritimati, an atoll in the Line Islands in the central Pacific, were the first to uncork at midnight to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. The island is 8.5 hours ahead of India and following it, in the long night of festivities that will follow, are the New Zealand islands of Chatham, New Zealand, and other Pacific islands, from Tokelau to Tonga.
