(Adnkronos) – Israeli settlers set fire to the mosque in the village of Madra in the West Bank overnight and vandalized it with anti-Arab graffiti. Palestinian media report that the settlers wrote that they acted in ”revenge” and drew the Star of David on several houses in the village. Israeli police and the Shin Bet have announced that an investigation has been opened.
Abdallah Kamil, governor of the Salfit district to which Madra belongs, said the attack ”would not have happened if the Israeli army had provided constant protection from the settlers.” Kamil called for the intervention of the international community ”to protect the Palestinian people, their mosque and property”.
