South Korea, Yoon does not appear for questioning

18 Dicembre 2024

(Adnkronos) – President Yoon Suk Yeol, ‘suspended’ in recent days, did not appear for questioning about the attempt to impose martial law in South Korea. The investigative team made up of Police, the Office for Investigations into Corruption by High Level Officials and the investigative unit of the Ministry of Defence wanted to hear from him, reports the South Korean agency Yonhap after the Seoul Parliament voted to impeach Yoon.

On 3 December he had attempted to impose martial law, which was soon revoked. Prime Minister Han Duck Soo has taken over as interim while awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Court, which can endorse the proceedings against Yoon or declare them unconstitutional.
