French socialists, ‘open to compromise with Bayrou, no censure agreement’

(Adnkronos) – French Socialist leader Olivier Faure said he had ”a serious and cordial conversation, with a view to compromise”, with new Prime Minister Francois Bayrou. Speaking to reporters at the end of a meeting at Matignon that lasted about an hour, Faure explained that ”there was no censure agreement” with Bayrou. ”Further meetings will be needed to move forward,” the Socialist leader added, saying that ”we will make an opposition open to compromise”.
