(Adnkronos) – For the first time since the end of the Assad era, employees of the Syrian Central Bank have returned to work. They were seen entering the institute’s headquarters for the first time since Sunday, the Dpa agency reports.
Mohamed al-Imam, head of a department of the bank, told the agency about “some thefts” recorded on Sunday. “The money was partially returned because the faces of those responsible were on the bank’s security cameras,” he added.
Branches of other banks also opened, but only for half a day. In Damascus, the armed groups behind the lightning offensive against Assad’s forces imposed a curfew from 4 pm to 5 am.
